Sumartin Beach

First on our list of family-friendly activities in Brac, a visit to the village of Sumartin should be on the agenda. For those keen to enjoy the natural beauty of the region and take in some incredible beaches and coves, this is the place to be. Sumartin Beach is perfect for swimmers eager to take a dip in the temperate waters. Around a 15-minute walk from the centre of town, this beach is ideal for families due to the small pebbles underfoot, which are soft enough to be easy on sensitive feet, as well as the gentle, lapping water – perfect for younger children. Alongside the gentle shoreline, Sumartin Beach also features an aquapark just off the coast, excellent entertainment for kids while the grown-ups sip cool drinks and bask in the sun.

Zlatni Rat Beach ( Golden Horn)

Zlatni Rat Beach, located near the town of Bol on Brac Island, is amongst one of the best thing to do with kids in Brac. Its shallow, clear waters and gentle waves make it perfect for young children to swim and play, while the mixture of sand and small pebbles is soft enough to walk along. The beach also features shaded areas from pine trees and nearby eateries for a relaxing day by the water. With its stunning natural beauty, Zlatni Rat is a great spot for a memorable and enjoyable day out for the whole family. It is worth remembering that, during peak tourist season, the beach can become quite busy, so be sure to pick your time of visit carefully or perhaps consider a visit to one of the many other beaches in Brac if you’re especially keen to avoid the crowds. Museum Uja

To experience local culture and history, the Museum of Olive Oil is an interesting and unique activity in Brac. Dedicated to the generations of olive-oil producers in the region, the museum is housed in a meticulously restored mill, with an informative and thoughtful display about the importance of the oil. In addition to learning about the history of olive oil, visitors can enjoy tapas dishes featuring, of course, the finest quality oil, along with local cheeses and wines. The passion and expertise of the tour guides and staff are palpable, and while it may not be the first family activity that comes to mind, it is well worth a trip, if only for the delicious food tasting!

Boat Tours

The beaches and bays of Brac are unparalleled, and one of the more adventurous and fun ways to explore this world-class shoreline is on one of the many boat tours offered by companies in the region. These tours vary in length and can be tailored to visit a number of destinations, so you can choose the sights you most want to see. Highlights like the Blue Cave or Blue Lagoon, as well as stops at nearby islands like Hvar, are all possible with these tours, making it an ideal option for families looking to see as much of Brac as possible in a exciting and memorable way.

The Island of Brac Museum

Located in Skrip, the Island of Brac Museum offers a great opportunity to learn about the island’s history and is an excellent option for rainy days. The museum itself is housed in the oldest settlement on the island and features a number of exhibits and archaeological remains, including a Roman mausoleum. During the Venetian-Turkish wars, much of Skrip was fortified, and remnants of these fortifications can still be found next to ancient Roman monuments. This rich history is well worth exploring and offers an informative and enjoyable experience for families.

With lessons offered at many of the beaches, water sport schools are easy to find. You can learn to windsurf, paddle-board, kayak, and more, enjoying all that the beautiful beaches of Brac have to offer. Sutivan Nature Park

Sutivan Nature Park is a combination of a zoo and botanical garden, located about 2km from Sutivan, toward Milna. Brac has a long history of animal habitation, with the island’s name coming from the word for deer. While there are no wild deer, horses, or bears on the island today, the park is home to goats, sheep, donkeys, and more, making it a fabulous day out for families. Perfect for kids, the park offers plenty of animals to see, as well as other activities to entertain little ones including a zipline, a sand playground, and a trampoline. It’s a great addition to any family-friendly itinerary. Alongside all the entertainment, the park has its own restaurant, so visitors can spend the whole day exploring and enjoy a meal while doing so – just be sure to make a reservation.
