Also known as the Golden Horn, Zlatni Rat beach is the most popular attraction on Brac Island. Due to its ever-changing shape, sculpted by the tides and winds, Zlatni Rat has gained global renown as one of the most spectacular beaches in the world. Its distinct arch shape has become the symbol of the town of Bol, and the beach has earned protected status as a geomorphological monument. With crystal-clear water, a mix of smooth pebbles and sand underfoot, and pine trees lining the shore, it is the perfect place to spend a day and marvel at the beauty of the region. The trees, originally planted by locals to create shade, now also house eateries, offering the perfect spot for a bite to eat after a long day by the water. You can walk along the shaded pine path from the village of Bol (about 2 km away) to reach the Golden Horn and enjoy its splendour.

Lovrecina Bay
Located on the northern part of Brac Island, near Postira, Lovrecina Bay is a beautiful, forested cove. The walk from Postira is just under 5km and winds along beaches and waterlines, shaded by pine trees – making it the perfect place to cycle or stroll. For those wishing to visit by car, the island road provides easy access. This stunning bay has a sandy shore and underwater terrain making it a welcome change from the various pebble beaches in the area, and the nearby cafes and restaurants serve delicious local specialties. Along the way, you’ll pass the remains of an ancient Roman summer villa, and the 5th century St. Lawrence Basilica which local pilgrims visit on the feast day of St. Lawrence in August.

Martinica Beach
Divided into two parts by the Dominican Monastery, which sits on a cape along its shores, Martinica Beach is often referred to as the “home beach” due to its popularity with locals. On one side of the monastery, the bay offers views of Hvar and provides a bright, beautiful spot to soak up the sun and azure waters. A stroll along this beach, a visit to the monastery museum, and a snack at the restaurant in the monastery courtyard make for the perfect day out. Be aware that there is limited shade on this beach, so be sure to bring hats and suncream, and take shelter in the monastery if the heat becomes too much for younger visitors. During the summer, swimming lessons are held at Martinica Beach, making it a great spot for families with children.

To the west of Bol in Milna is Plaza Lucica – another fantastic option for those looking to enjoy a balance of active and restful beach activities. This rocky beach is one of four beaches in Milna, all of which are pebble or rocks and lined with pine trees, offering natural shade for visitors. This part of the island is perfect for diving and snorkelling and is sheltered from the wind, making it ideal for beachside sports like volleyball and table tennis. Football and basketball are often played just off the beach, making it perfect for active holidaymakers who want to burn off some energy before heading to a nearby restaurant to refuel!

Finally, just outside of Bol, Murvica Beach is definitely worth a visit. Be aware that the walk down to the beach involves navigating several steps, so it’s worth wearing sturdy shoes and bringing snacks, or purchasing them at the bar at the top before making your way down. This beach is ideal for those seeking a peaceful day by the water, away from the busier beaches like Zlatni Rat.
