Ibiza may be well known for its wild party scene, but there’s so much more to this magical island. There is an array of glamorous spots that lure celebs, from David Guetta to Rafael Nadal, but there’s also plenty of family appeal, too. So whether you seek sandy shores, lush hiking trails, romantic beach bars, or family-friendly tours, Ibiza’s magnetic powers are bound to work their magic. Keep reading for our list of the best things to do in Ibiza.
Unwind at the Beach
Whether you seek a relaxing spot to soak up the rays or a livelier atmosphere for sundown cocktails, there is no shortage of amazing beaches in Ibiza. Just a few miles outside Ibiza Town, Cala Talamanca is renowned for its shallow and calm swimming conditions, ideal for children and adults alike. Or head to Cala D’Hort, which ranks among the best beaches in Ibiza, offering clear, warm waters and a 150m stretch of white sand for sunbathing. It also offers a breathtaking panorama of the iconic Es Vedrà island rising dramatically from the azure waters just 2.5 km away. If you’re still looking for a party, of course, there are plenty of beach bars to satiate your thirst. Cala Jondal is home to the popular Blue Marlin beach club, known for its oversized day beds and opulent cocktail bar, drawing celebrities and jet-setters alike. Tropicana Beach Club is another that promises unparalleled entertainment.

Take a Ferry to Formentera
If you’re up for a little adventure, hop on a 40-minute ferry and head to Formentera. The smallest of the Balearic islands lies just south of Ibiza and is known for its chilled-out vibe. Visitors tend to go to Formentera simply to relax – spending time lazing on one of its strikingly beautiful beaches and bathing in its sparkling waters. It’s no surprise that Formentera’s beaches are regularly voted as Europe’s best, also ranking in the top ten worldwide. To get around, rent a scooter or bike to explore the charming villages and beautiful beaches, followed by a stop at one of the many restaurants for some delicious, local Mediterranean dishes.
Stroll through Dalt Vila
Perched on a small mountain next to the sea and overlooking Ibiza town is the fortified old town of Dalt Vila, which translates to ‘Upper Town’. This vast melting pot of history, ancient buildings and walls has plenty of amazing photo opportunities. You’re better off on foot, in sensible shoes, exploring the narrow, winding, and steep cobbled streets. Expect magnificent views from the breaks in the high ramparts and the vast terraces at each level. There are three official routes around Dalt Vila, though you can just wander around, get lost and surprise yourself at what you find.
Hit the Street Markets
One of the best things to do in Ibiza on any trip is to visit its craft markets, located in different parts of the island. The Punta Arabí Hippy Market, a staple since 1973, boasts over 500 stalls offering fashion, handicrafts, and gastronomic delights. Open every Wednesday from May 1st to October 30th, it’s a must-visit for any traveller. For another legendary market experience, head to Las Dalias in Sant Carles, which is open all year round. Here, you’ll find a bustling atmosphere and a diverse array of stalls selling crafts, accessories, natural cosmetics, and more. But the market scene doesn’t end there – throughout the summer, Ibiza hosts a variety of other markets, including the Sant Rafael craft market, Santa Gertrudis market, Cala Llonga market, and the Sant Josep ecological market. And for those yearning for a weekend adventure, the Sant Jordi flea market awaits every Saturday, all year round.
Go Green at Bibo Park
Discover the wonders of Ibiza’s unique flora at Ibiza Biotechnological Botanical (also known as Bibo Park), a botanical paradise nestled amidst the island’s natural beauty. With over 30,000 plant species, including rare and medicinal varieties, it’s a feast for the senses. Join a guided tour, participate in interactive experiments, or simply unwind in the serene pine forests.
Rent a boat and visit Es Vedrá
Embark on a magical adventure to Es Vedrá, the mystical uninhabited islet that rises from the sea, steeped in Ibiza legend. Some believe its magnetic powers draw people back time and time again. Rent a boat from Cala d’Hort or Cala Tarida and spend the day exploring this legendary rock and its surrounding coves, such as the magical Atlantis, a quarry-like rock structure opposite Es Vedrà. Alternatively, for a more immersive experience, kayak from Cala d’Hort to Es Vedrá, weather permitting.
Go for a Hike
One of the best ways to experience the beauty of Ibiza is by foot. With hundreds of hiking routes to choose from, you’ll find endless opportunities to connect with the island’s stunning landscapes. For a rewarding challenge, conquer Sa Talaia, Ibiza’s highest mountain standing at 475 metres. Begin your journey from the church of Sant Josep and traverse through the beautiful countryside before taking in a 360-degree view of Ibiza. In the northern region, embark on the rocky hike to Moscarter Lighthouse, starting from a quaint cove in Portinax. Follow the cliffside trail until you reach the impressive 52-metre summit, enjoying breathtaking coastal vistas along the way. For a more moderate excursion, venture from Cala Salada to San Antonio, passing by spectacular beaches like Cala Yoga and Gracioneta.
Enjoy Sundowners at a Beach Bar
End your day with a spectacular sunset and a refreshing drink at one of Ibiza’s iconic beach bars. Whether you choose the laid-back vibe of Babylon Beach Bar, the spectacular setting of Cotton Beach Club, or the romantic ambience of Amante, you’re in for a treat. Sit back, relax, and soak in the magic of Ibiza’s golden hour.
