October in the Algarve

The month of October is a delightful time to visit the Algarve.  Temperatures can reach a toasty 25 degrees during the day and the high season crowds have long returned home.  The beaches are tranquil, restaurants are quieter and roads less busy which provides the perfect opportunity to completely relax and enjoy the natural beauty of this region.

Many of the restaurants and bars stay open until November, many offering low priced seasonal menus, and it is harvest time which the locals love to celebrate!  In Faro, the city’s biggest religious festival, The Feira de Santa Iria, takes place in October.  There is live music, an abundance of stalls and fairground rides and a great sense of celebration which dates back over 400 years.

October is also a perfect time to visit for golfers.  With more affordable green fees and less soaring temperatures, it makes for a pleasant and comfortable round.
